Hi.
I was told on 14th April that my gastroscopy biopsies have come back positive for cancer. I have had my CT and PET scan last week and I've been told they will hopefully discuss my case at the next MDT meeting which is on Friday 9th May. I'm not sure what the process is or if I will have to have further tests? I live on my own with 2 kids so I'm finding it quite stressful and am unsure of what to expect.
Kirsty I read your post and remember only too well how frightening it is to be told that the biopsy results are positive for cancer! I had a number of other tests to see if there was any spread. I had stomach cancer so you may have a CT or MRI. Hopefully the MDT will provide some information on the treatment for you. It’s easier once you know and can focus on getting through the treatment.
There will be people on this group who can share their experiences. But I wanted to send you a reply tonight! As nights are the worst!
Good luck
Jac
Thanks Jac. You are right, during the day I can keep busy doing other things to distract myself but at night it is harder! I'm glad I was recommended this site as it keeps me from googling things and it's also nice to hear of positive outcomes.
I'm hoping after this MDT meeting that they will be able to tell me what is going to happen and then I can focus on that. I was told that they think it's treatable and wouldn't be going down this route if they didn't think that, but I'm guessing it ultimately all depends on what the PET scan shows. Time has never felt so slow!
Kirsty
When I was going through treatment I read a Blog by a young guy who had oesophageal cancer. It was really positive

You need to hear positive outcomes at this time! X

Hi Kirsty
I'm 7 months post op and finished my chemotherapy back in February. Your MDT will discuss all of your results on Friday (endoscopy, biopsy, CT and PET scan) and will put together a plan of action. My tumour was at the GOJ too and was around 5cm in size. They will contact you as soon as possible after their meeting to arrange for you to go and see what their approach will be. Please keep us all informed as to what they say as there is always someone on this group who will have valuable information for you whatever the outcome.
Wishing you all the very best
Anthony x
Hi Kirsty
Sorry to hear your having to go through this ! It’s not an easy journey ! My diagnosis was in October and I am now 6 weeks post surgery awaiting to start post op chemo ! When they have had the MDT meeting you will hopefully have a plan and that will make it much easier this time waiting for results is the worst !
Just try to take one day at a time and stay positive you will find many people on this site who have come out the other side as it were ! Take care Tricia x
