Am still going through the scans etc before treatment plan. I have the EUS booked on 24th and Laproscopy on 27th. I live on my own and finding it all very overwhelming although my sister is supporting me
Hi Igraine,
I’m Tony one of the Community Champions, if you click on my top you will see my details, I am in remission since having OS cancer in my upper part of the Oesophagus and had Chemo and RT, unfortunately this part of your journey is possibly the most difficult waiting for tests and results and then the wait for appointments, I just wanted to get on with it as this was my second cancer so actually I knew the ropes from the first.
Trust in your Team and always write down anything you want to know as it comes into your mind as when you get to meet the team it is so easy to forget the list of wants, they are there to support you in anyway and don’t worry how small the question is or you think it’s silly they will have heard it before trust me
My other little bit of advise is make sure you keep well hydrated and if you need soft foods and supplements always speak with the Team, they may have discussed that with you already and you haven’t mentioned how the cancer is effecting you.
Another support is our Buddy service who can offer you 12 weekly phone calls from one of our Volunteers they have general chats to talk to someone outside of your circle of Family and friends and we can source local information and support for you, this is the link or call the 0808 number and they will refer you to them

Hi ingraine
sorry to hear your having tests for this cancer ! You will be finding it overwhelming but hopefully when you get some answers and get a plan sorted you will feel better ! It’s the unknown that can be hard. I guess you have had a CT scan and maybe a CT Pet scan ? I was diagnosed in early October and just having chemo before hopefully surgery in March So I know how you feel there are a lot of people in the same boat here and people caring for them so I think you will find this forum very supportive
take care sending hugs

Well done you should have staging soon I’m T3N0M0 !
can you eat or are you having a feeding tube fitted during your laparoscopy?

Hi Igraine, glad to hear this, I was the same but do be careful going forward to keep an an eye on your weight etc, it obviously depends on what treatment plan they set you on, as mentioned mine was chemo and RT and I was swallowing okayish but still lost over 12 kilos so supplements are important.
Keep going it all comes together

Hi Igraine
Welcome to the forum, the waiting on appointments is sometimes the difficult part, the uncertainty.. have you been given any information at all?
Good luck on the 24th and 27th, I hope both of those appointments go OK for you.
