Hi everyone
my husband (late 40s) recently diagnosed with oesophagus cancer after investigation on a hip problem which turned out to be a secondary tumour. Up to just a week ago the primary tumour in his food pipe had rarely bothered him but radiotherapy on his hip finished last week so could that be linked?
he is now having trouble eating solid food which is really cruel in run up to Christmas with food everywhere and his appetite still fine. Any advice on what to cook that is tasty but doesn’t feel we are giving him baby food?
thank you
Hello and welcome to the forum if you are new here.
My husband was able to eat pasta and rice dishes. Mashed potato in various forms. Ice lollies became his friend. He was told to avoid bread because it sticks in the oesophagus and then other food backs up. The same with red meat, although minced meat went down fine. He became more careful about what he ate and when. He could eat a bacon baguette for breakfast but then everything else would back up and he had to be sick to clear it.
After just one round of chemo there was an improvement though.
I hope this works for your husband.
