Hi everyone. My mother has been through chemo and radio without much success. Tumor was localised and she was ready for op in sep but due to circumstances she had to cancel. Had to have another petscan for op again and results have come back with spread. They say the risks of op are higher now than before so alternative treatment is immunotherapy. Just wondering has anyone been through this or know anything about immunotherapy. Thankyou
Hello BBM
My husband is on immunotherapy with chemo. All seems to be going well so far. His 4th round starts tomorrow. He's on FOLFOX chemo, Nivolumab immunotherapy and is in a clinical trial.
The oncologist told us the immunotherapy doesn't have the severe side effects that chemo does.
Hi
I’ve been on immunotherapy (Nivolumab) since May - alongside Folfox chemo. Last session I had immuno only as my platelet count was low. Almost no side effects at all compared with chemo. Am back today for scan, bloods and meeting with doc (on clinical trial) Had some good news re tumour which has shown ‘complete response’ to treatment. After regular infusions on Friday and with results of today’s scan time to regulate ongoing treatment to keep the cancer at bay. So far so good. Best of luck to your mum!
