Just got back from appointment today and they confirmed my husbands oesophageal cancer but the CT scan has showed lesions in the liver, they are not sure what they are so he has to have a PET scan next, we are distraught. If it has spread to the liver they won't be able to operate just chemotherapy, has anyone else had this? We are due to see the consultant next Thursday.
Any positive thoughts would be appreciated.
Hi,
I know I am trying to stay positive and yes treatments today have vastly improved so I will never lose hope.
Hi, sorry to hear your news. Each person is obviously different so I hope my experience helps you.
I had similar after my CT scan. My liver and right pelvis bone being the sites where they had concerns. In my case I had a PET scan and an MRI followed by a laparoscopy. The result being no spread. I was confirmed as T3N1M0 which was my original staging from my original CT scan.
Easier said than done I know but try to keep focused on each appointment as they come for now. Stay on top of the clinical team to make sure all your scans are booked and you understand what they are. For me they were booked over a 2 week period I think and having them all so close took my mind off waiting for the results a little. I think I had a week or so of being in limbo waiting.
Best of luck over the course of your next scans. Fingers crossed for good news.
Hi
Sorry to hear this. I know it's a lot to cope with and the waiting is awful but see what the PET CT scan shows.
Take care,
Amanda
Hi,
Thanks for your positive post, it gives me great hope, I think you just go into panic mode when something else shows up and expect the worse.
Just waiting for the scan now and then we see the consultant next Thursday, I will be praying every night for good news.
It just feels like every appointment throws up more bad news but my husband is strong and he will fight this.
How is everything going for you at the moment.
Thanks Amanda, I am praying for good news from the PET scan.
Sometimes you feel you are in a nightmare and you just want to wake up.
Take care
Angie
