Hi my dad had a stent fitted around six weeks ago and just had a scan they said it fallen into hi stomach. He was eating soft food after he had it done but the last couple weeks can really only get liquids down has any one else had this problem. They said they would book him in for another stent. Can this cause any problems?
Hello Ruby73
I hope you do not mind me replying as I had a different type of cancer to your Dad, but I hoped that by doing so it would bump the post and someone with more experience would see it and respond.
It must have been a worry to be told his stent had slipped down into his stomach and also concerning that he is only able to get liquids down. It sounds like his doctors are sorting it for him and arranging another stent. I hope that this is done quickly for him. I am sure that when this happens they will be able to give you some reassurance and answer any questions.
Jane
Hi sorry to hear about your dad. I had the same problem and had a new stent fitted 5 days ago. And the old one removing (sometimes they can’t). Same procedure and same recovery time as the new stent expands into its position. I was not told that there would be any new problems so I’m just coping with pain relief and eating soups smoothies etc for a while before trying sloppy food, Apparently a slipped stent is not unusual. Annoying to have to start over again but otherwise it’s straightforward enough.
