My husband has a date for his staging laparoscopy can anyone tell us how long after this can we expect surgery to happen.

  • everyone is different so it’s hard to say. Your team will do all the tests and scans they need for staging then discuss the results at their MDT (multidisciplinary team meeting, so oncologists, surgeons, dieticians, specialist nurses, all sorts) and decide on the best treatment plan for your husbands specific staging and will then discuss with you both. There is no fixed time for surgery really as so many variables. Although I was told early on surgery looked highly possible, they wouldn’t confirm that for definite until after my staging scans were back, and then I had to complete pre op chemo and have another CT scan to check it had worked before they even looked at setting an actual date (and you have to recover in between each treatment stage)  My diagnosis was April, chemo June and July, surgery in September, and have just started post op chemo. It’s a long drawn out treatment path that will be tailored just for your husband.

  • Thankyou for sharing your time line, it has helped us get some idea of treatment times ahead. We wish you well with your chemo and sincerely hope you will get the 'all clear' in due course.

  • You’re welcome, hope all goes well for you and your husband too.
