Hi. I am a female recently been diagnosed with OC which is much more common in men. It is localised & hasn't spread so doctors are positive. Due to start chemo to shrink it as much as possible before surgery. Would like to hear from other female OC sufferers as I feel the odd one out. Julia
Hey Browndog, my mum (58) has just started FLOT. She has always been fit and well running marathons and cycling. She would love some tips on keeping active with a picc line. Any recommendations?
Thanks so much for your posts. They have inspired her to do a bit more
Hi Rebel P. I still went to the gym when I could and walked a lot but couldn’t play my usual badminton as the line was in my right arm and I’m right handed so couldn’t do strenuous exercises. Couldn’t lift weights at gym but went on treadmill and bike and could do leg weights. Good luck
Hi there. Had my Hickman line fitted yesterday. Having my 1st chemo on Thursday. The thing they clip the chemo onto is in an embarrassing place it dangles onto my breast. I wonder if you or any ladies on this forum have any suggestions about what to wear for chemo sessions. Or will I be given a hospital gown? I'm getting into a state worrying about little things
Hi Kells. I don’t know if all hospitals are the same but I didn’t have to wear a gown. What I did learn is that it is good to wear something loose fitting because they flush lots of liquid in you and you have to go to the loo a lot! Just wear something comfortable and take something to read or your phone or something as it is a long day. The nurses really looked after me and they were very caring all day. Good luck with everything and try not to worry too much. It’s hard I know but you will get through this.
