Hello everyone, my partner has just been diagnosed Monday. His CT scan is tomorrow and then a face to face on Thursday next week. Will we get any answerrs tomorrow? I feel numb, I am trying to  feel normal and be strong but its hard. I feel numb.

  • Hi! I’m sorry you are going through this. I’m in a similar position. From my experience you won’t find out the CT scan because it needs to be reviewed by the MDT. You will get some answers at the meeting next Thursday. I was diagnosed on 3rd of May. I’ve had a CT scan, a PET scan, there’s been two MDT meetings and I need further blood tests and an endoscopic ultrasound. It’s hard waiting but every time you get some answers to all the questions in your head it gets easier. My specialist burse said a couple of weeks wait now doesn’t make much difference and they will get all the info to get the best treatment plan for your partner.
I found it helpful to call the Macmillan helpline and speak to the nurses as it’s hard being given such big news with no support. x

  • Hello Lowedal,

    Thank you for reaching out.

No update other than its a common type of cancer. The CT scan is not back so we are getting a call on Thursday. This is because we are away on a break. Im kind of coping but thte is this dark cloud hanging over me. Im going to shake it off though. Its hard because since the diagnosis the eating is worse and he is living on weightgain shakes and milk. Fruit and now soups make him regurgitate. His weight is stablising though, so he puts on a pound or two, then looses it when he goes back to work and the gym. These activities keep him foccussed.

  • Enjoy your break away - keep on doing... and I hope that Thursday provides you with some more answers.

The eating problems will improve I believe once treatment starts, for now it is just finding what works for him and sticking with it.

    Good Luck

  • Hello Orange

Thank you for replying , it is very kind of you. We still have no answers, they are calling on Thursday. Its horrible because since the diagnosis its been a liquid diet. He has seemed to maintain weight only loosing a pound and then putting it back on. He is living on milk and weigjt gain shakes. Soup and friut make him regurgitate. Chocolate and icecream are ok.
