My partner had a stent fitted last Thursday, he’s been in pain ever since. I called the red card and they said he needed to go to a&e straight away as he may have a blockage . QE admitted him last Monday , he’s now had a barium swallow to see what’s going on ! Luckily there’s no blockage. But he’s still in pain and still not eating ( that’s a concern) the doctors have said his stent needed to be moved as it had taken a sharp turn . My concern is that it won’t settle due to the tumour being too big (12cm)… can anyone give me any advise as I’m really worried about him getting food down .
Thanks for reading x

  • Hello Heartbreak 123

I want to bump your post up if that is ok, I do not have enough information on Stents to be able to answer your question.

How is your partner doing now?

  • He has been terrible since this has been fitted, it took a sharp turn, so it was hurting him resulting him having another stent fitted. The tumour is growing so it’s pushing against it . He’s havingPrayo sleep he explains it feels like he’s better my suffocated. It’s awful ! He’s on new chemo now called campo. Let’s see if this shrinks it Pray what did you mean by bulk it up ?

  • Hi Heartbreak

My husband had a stent fitted on Friday. He was in hospital as he wasn't eating or drinking and had got terribly dehydrated. The Dr who fitted it said it had gone better than expected so that was positive. Like you we just don't know what to expect going forward - how soon should he be able to move to something a bit more substantial than fresubin (which he hates) for example. I am so sorry you are on this horrible journey too. Thinking of you both.
