  1. Hi my husband has been treated for small cell lung cancer since April 2021 with chemotherapy and then radiotherapy. He had a scan 10 week's after completing the radiotherapy which has shown the sclc had shrunk but a thickness showed on his oesophagus. He has had biopsies and they say it is a new cancer squamous cell carcinoma. Has anybody been in this same situation. Anne

    Hi Feet,

I'm fairly new to this I'm afraid and not in the same situation as your husband but I'm pretty sure ive read some fairly positive stuff on chemo outcomes in cells.... Very best to you both.

  • Hi Anne

Welcome, I am 16 months from Throat cancer and total Laryngectomy when at the latest scan they have found the same I am just in prelim tests, scans etc , a plan has been put in place but at the moment each time something crops up, tomorrow I was susppose to have the Planning Scan in Radiotherapy but it is suspended until a meeting prior with the Oncologist. It all depends where the cancer is in the pipe, mine is very high up so 5x chemo and 25 RT have been advised as an operation would be a'salvage job' due to it's location as you probrably know they cut the pipe and bring the stomach upto it which causes digestive problems.

These sites are great to put your mind at rest or answer the ususal problems, your in good company, all the best

Thanks for the reply, were just waiting for a call to see what his options are. He's already had chemo for his sclc which shrunk it so here's hoping.anne

    Hi Tony

Thanks for replying, at the moment we're waiting to see what's going to be offered. We didn't expect a new cancer so feel we've got our heads in the sand a bit and haven't done much research yet as not met with oncologist so don't know exact position. On a positive note he had a scan 4 months ago and it wasn't showing then so hopefully it's caught early. I hope you get sorted. Take care
