Hi Haybag
Good luck today at Addenbrookes.
I went through what you undoubtedly are going through several years ago, starting in 2013, at Addenbrookes. Things have changed slightly over the years but I’m sure you will get the same level of care and expertise that I received from the wonderful team there. Remember that your new best friend is you clinical nurse specialist, who will be able to support you and chase up things if the pace of things slackens.
Please ask about joining Maggie’S support meetings, which even after seven years I still find comfort in talking to other patients on different stages of their journey and hearing about improvements in patient care.
The aloneness of the PET scan is weird, but remember it is for the protection of the team who are performing these procedures several times each day, not because you are particularly dangerous!
On then to the next step.
My advice is to think about keeping a journal or notebook to record events, write down questions you want answered etc. Things seem very slow at this stage but it’s all a blur after a while. It’s good to keep an informal record.
Counting the days, making every day count.

Hi Haybag
Thanks for asking, we are "Waiting" after being told on Friday that they have spotted what they believe to be an infection on Dal's lungs in the CT images taken on Thursday, we received a call Monday to say his treatment, due this Friday has been cancelled? He was then advised to still attend his nurse assessment yesterday though, as it was already booked.
Up he got early enough to be ready for transport at least two hours before his appointment, got to the hospital at 12.30,, seen at 3.30 only to be advised by the nurse that there was no need for him to be there as if he wasn't having chemo there was no need for her to see him.
He then sat and waited until 6.15pm before he could get his transport home. .... now, he has never been one to complain, but when he had no reason to waste an entire day or the hospital and transport time, and he still does not know why his treatment has been cancelled, it is quite frustrating.
So as i mentioned, we are waiting, waiting for someone to phone, which seems likely now, to be his oncologist who is due to contact us on Monday anyway as a pre-arranged consultation.
Otherwise, we are doing ok
