In October 2020 I was diagnosed with oesophagus cancer,I was told the only treatment for me at that time was chemotherapy.
I had the chemotherapy and visit to oncologist after C T scan.
Oncologist told me the mass had grown but had not spread. But no trace of cancer could be found in lymph nodes. I always thought if you have any cancer in lymph nodes then tat was it.
Confused about this.

Hi Waldorf,
I'm not a doctor so please get this confirmed by someone who knows.
I was diagnosed in 2018 with oesophageal cancer and initially they thought it had spread to my diaphragm. I had 6 lymph nodes that were cancerous (they lit up on my PET scan). My initial diagnosis was T4aN2M? If the cancerous lymph nodes are local to the primary tumour and surgically removeable then you can still be put on a curative pathway. Exploratory surgery found that my tumour was resting on my diaphragm and my cancer had not spread to another organ so I was re-diagnosed T3N2M0 and offered curative treatment. During surgery they removed my primary tumour, 1/3 of my stomach, a few inches of my oesophagus and 36 lymph nodes. I'm still in remission!
I hope this answers your question?
