Hi,

wondering if anyone has experienced this.

my dad had his second infusion 2 weeks ago of chemo and continues with his tablets.

last week he became very unwell, really dizzy, bad eyesight, vomiting and not being able to go to the toilet. He is still in hospital.

Sickness is under control but he is still so weak, dizzy and has to have help with going to the toilet.

bloods are fine, scans are clear, no infection, brain scan clear .

chemo has now stopped. Any suggestions or experience with this.

my dad is constantly worried that he is on his way out.

we feel helpless and don’t know what to do.

  • Hi Jayne

I’m  not very active on this forum as my experiences are a little old hat as I am almost eight years post diagnosis.

you didn’t say whether your dad has had any other treatment or surgery, but no matter.

I coped with pre op chemo well (it was ecx and easier than the now common flot regime. However when it came to my post of chemo it was a different story. One very similar to your dads. Admitted as an emergency a day or two after starting the chemo. I was most unwell. More unwell than I was after the surgery. As you say unable to walk to the bathroom. Initially sickness and raised heart rate out of control. But on day ten on the ward all drips removed, I suddenly felt better. I was suddenly able to eat and drink. Discharged and ravenously hungry for a week. No more chemo, just a slow recovery to full health. It’s all a distant memory as I have been enjoying life to the full ever since.

I hope that your dad makes the same kind of recovery.

Counting the days, making every day count.
