Possible cancellation!!!

Hi , I hardly know what to say. Just that my heart goes out to you and I really hope things go ahead. When is his op due?

It was pencilled in for 16th April. I just dont know what’s going to happen now. He finished chemotherapy yesterday so my worry is will it start growing again and then it gets to a stage where they say the cancer has spread and he can’t have the operation now??  Would they give him more chemo to try and stop the cancer growing do you think?  I hate it they they’ve just called up on a Friday tea time and left us in a complete mess I rang our nurse and she particularly happy with the call I got and now it’s the weekend without any support.

Hi , I am sorry to hear what you're going through; it's harsh getting such news immediately before the weekend. So many of our members are left wondering what will happen now and, of course, no one knows. I can only imagine that there must be many people with coronavirus already in hospital, but they're not telling us about that. I hope you get some answers next week.

I know from my friends who are oncologists that the cancer teams are doing all they can in the best interest of patients. It’s really good that he’s finished his chemo now so he can get his immune system back up without having to go into hospital again. Things can change so fast and the operation is still due to be a few weeks away. I worried so much about delays when my dad went through this 4 years ago (I know there was no pandemic then).

Even if best of circumstances, this op date can be moved and cancelled and reorganised. I was always reassured that human cancers are not that fast growing- he is likely to have had this for many years already. It may be in his interest too to wait a couple more weeks to best avoid infection and so he can have access to best care. Try not to worry and have trust that they will do what’s best for him.
