My mum was diagnosed with esophageal cancer (squamous cell) in October last year and has completed her chemo and radiotherapy. 4 weeks after the end of treatment she has had a CT scan which has shown no growth of the tumor. She is devastated but I have read that they can’t really tell at this stage? It makes me wonder what the purpose of the scan was and when we will have an indication of whether it has been successful or not?

I'm sorry to read that your mum has recently been diagnosed with oesophageal cancer and that she is devastated with the results of her most recent CT scan.
I noticed that you hadn't had any response yet. By replying to you it will bump your post back to the top of the page where it'll have more chance of being seen by the right person as I don't have any experience with this type of cancer.
A CT scan provides a 3D picture of the body and I presume that your mum's team will have used it so that they can see what affect the chemoradiotherapy has had on her tumour.
Does your mum have an appointment date to talk things through with her team? If not she could give her CNS a call to find out when this is likely to be.
