does anyone have experience of stent insertion re advanced cancer of the oesophagus ? was it successful ? did you have chemo before / after the stent? any complication?  thank you

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community

I'm not sure if you're asking this question for yourself or for someone you know but whichever I'm sorry to hear that the oesophageal cancer is advanced.

I'm not a member of this group but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. I've had a look through some of the previous posts in this group and found this one that you might be interested in as duggies-girl talks about her dad who has advanced cancer and had a stent. You could reply to her for more information if you wanted to.

When you have a minute it would be really useful if could pop something about your journey, or your relative's/friend's journey, so far into your profile as it helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi Gill

My 57-year-old hubby has 2 OC tumours stage 4 and was tube fed for some time, he had 2 stents fitted on 4/6/19 after many rounds of chemo which worked for a few months then long story short after a break they regrew and he was back on the feed tube. Gastro consultant agreed to try fitting stents and it has worked, yes he has some pain but no more than before but he can eat almost anything absolutely no problem now and can drink anything to him this has been a lifeline being a big foodie. He would definitely recommend it he may be terminal but being able to eat has made a massive difference to his quality of life.

    Feel free to ask anything

    Love Carol x
