Hi OKKJH My dad was told the same due to his age 88 at diagnosis and he also has alzheimers which would likely be made worse so no chemo or radiotherapy either.
They gave him a stent so that he could eat again and that has worked wonderfully well. In fact he has had 3 stents in all with the most recent one last October.
His diagnosis was more than 16 months ago so he has done remarkably well. He has put on weight and is happy. Dad's team were right not to give him chemo and the operation was never an option for dad. He has had 16 months of good quality living and I fear that had he had chemo then his quality of life would not have been good, he would not have coped with the side effects and the operation would have probably killed him.
Dad looks well and I believe that he has many more months to come and is likely to see his 90th birthday next year at this rate. I don't think we could wish for more than that.
Hope that your dad has a good outcome.
