Hi I posted other day but unsure if it posted on here. Started first cycle on Thursday felt ok and on Friday. Saturday morning felt bit sick so took pill with some water then the most horrendous burning pain in chest husband called hospital and had to go in felt bit better by then while there they gave me pills with water and again thos horrendous pain it was the water causing it. Doc said it was a laryngeal spasms anyone else had this that can advise plz. Even having shower causes skin to tingle. Also today my feet has started to feel fuzzy. Any advice would be grateful
Ok thank you. The spasms very painful and scary. Thank you for response
Hi Elaine, my hubby also has oesophageal cancer and has just completed his 4th cycle of FLOT prior to surgery, so although I haven't felt the side effects myself I can give you some idea of what he went through, he learnt very quickly never to eat or drink any thing straight from the fridge, all drinks, except tea, were best served at room temp and drank quite slowly to avoid spasm. He has coped well with all the meds and didn't have problem swallowing them. He noticed that touching cold things caused pain in his hands so has avoided that by wearing gloves when picking up anything chilly. Any side effects usually kicked in around day 4/5, but there were some good "back to almost normal" days to enjoy before next cycle began. Hope you are doing well and if I can help with advice at all please feel free to ask. My very best wishes and virtual hugs X
Luv choc. Thank you so much for your reply and advice. I was absolutely terrified when it first happened as didn't realise something so natural as water could cause so much pain. Now I know sips at room temp. I was just worried was not drinking enough because of this. Had my cycle thur and pump off Friday but got the tingly finger tips on sat but my feet also feels " fuzzy" now as if they dont belong to me. I do hope I get some back to the new normal soon as hate this nausea feeling all the time. Thank you again xx
Hi Elaine, Hope you had a good sleep, me and hubby were outside in garden till 3am hoping to see the meteor shower, didn't see anything though! You are right in saying how important it is to drink water, hubby always aims to drink 2 to 3 litres of bottled water every day. Nausea was helped by taking Domperidone, hope they gave you these before you left hosp., I also gave him ginger and turmeric shots and added tsp of manuka honey and he swears by these to settle his stomach. If you are interested I can give you more details XX
Hi luv chox. Hop you and hubby doing ok. Didn't sleep well at all very nauseas all night and sick few times just like water nothing horrid. The pills I got are metoclopramide but called hospital this morning and hubby had to go and get others. Levomepromazine and steroids for couple more days.i would be very interested in how you make the shots etc to settle stomach and anything else you can suggest that has helped your hubby. That would be so kind of you. Thank you so much xx
Hi Elaine, Sorry you had such a disturbed nights sleep, I hope you are able to nap during the day. The shots I make are still on sale on Amazon, they are by Vitalute and come in powder form, Ginger Turmeric Shot, I used a tsp of powder, added hot water and a tsp of Manuka honey, they don't taste wonderful but you will feel the ginger warming your throat as it goes down, try not to drink anything immediately afterwards to allow the shot to do its work, a smint or tictac is helpful is you hate the taste in your mouth. Hope this helps X
Hi Luv Chox thank you for that. My hubby is now on Amazon looking now. Was also going to ask does your hubby have filtered water as was going to buy a water filter or just cooled boiled water from kettle? You have been a great help thank you so much xx
Hi Luv Chox. Thank you for that my hubby is on Amazon looking as I write this. Can I also ask where you get the honey from and do you have a water filter thing for hubby or does he just drink cooled boiled water? Thank you for all your help it is very much appreciated xx
Hi Elaine, We tend to buy big bottles of water from supermarket and buy the Manuka honey 70mgo from Holland & Barratt, if you try and get it in the, "Buy one get one for a 1p" offer it helps as Manuka honey can be pricey XX
