Hope every one is doing well and all newbies may your path ahead be a smooth one.
Has any one just had radiotherapy, hubby had three chemo's in preparation for surgery, then they said he was not fit enough and the chemo he was given has now caused heart problems, as yet we do not know what they are will find out Tuesday
Oncologist said he was to have six weeks of radiotherapy, which he completed nearly two weeks ago.
.He has been in so much pain the whole time and we did not know that his oncologist left
the hospital on the Friday we see him on the Monday., he never put no pain relief in place if husband needed it and the radio dep had to get A/E doctors out three times to try and help him.. Do not worry PALS have been informed did phone specialist nurses, good job i am not holding my breath, still know call back.
The A/E doctor prescribed liquid morphine but it does not see to help for very long we do not know if the pain is be caused by the cancer, the heart, or the radiotherapy. Never every thought how hard it could be, at the moment he is not my husband and i do not know how to help him.
If it is the radiotherapy when and will it soon get a little easier for us both.
Sorry for the moan i needed it

Hi Ellie
if my experience, of course we are all different, is anything to go by it will get easier.
I think that most of us hope that once treatment has ended we will feel better. The problem is that we then have to cured of the treatment damage.
I completed four cycles of chemo between November last year and January. I then had six weeks of combined chemo/radio that finished in early March. I have to say that I felt considerably worse in the first weeks following treatment then I had when it was in progress as the cumulative effects of the treatment continue to compound.
Now, five months since treatment ended, I am much improved. I have difficulty swallowing, my diet now being 50/50 tube and pureed ‘real’ food.I also have quite severe but improving chest pains that are not cardiac related. Perhaps, the effects the treatment or of my coughing. My pain relief for this has reduced from frequent liquid morphine (not always effective) to occasional liquid paracetamol
The point that I am trying to make is that it does improve but just takes time.
Do try to talk to your CNS nurse they are often more patient orientated than the consultants.
i hope that this ramble has helped and that your husband soon gets over this most difficult stage.
Best wishes
Michael
