I've been expecting it so I've been checking out this site.  Now it is confirmed, I've joined up and  I'll be looking to see how everyone else deals with it.
I'm 73 and have had rheumatod arthritis for 12 years but that is kept well under controI.
I had T-Cell lymphoma back in 2008-9 and I've been healthy since then so I will be putting the same positive thoughts to work.
Next couple of weeks I'm having a  PET scan and endoscopy ultrasound, followed by a laparoscopy.
I need to bulk up a bit so how does everyone feed themselves?

  • Hi Florrie

Glad to see that in spite of receiving this horrible news you are remaining positive.

Bulking up is fairly easy if you like your food and can swallow ok!

Bulking foods are not necessarily healthy foods as they will probably be high fat or high carb or both. So make sure you eat veg and fruit too. Sausage rolls, meat pies, cottage pie, lasagna, pasta, cream cakes, snacks of cake and biscuits, high calorie drinks from the chemist which are sometimes available on prescription.

This sounds so unhealthy... so make sure you step up the exercise and get fit at the same time. You’ll need to be fit and otherwise healthy to recover from the treatment/surgery.

I wish you luck with all the scans and tests. Just don’t google statistics. You are not a number, you are a free man!

Counting the days, making every day count.

  • Hi,

Juices, shakes and smoothies are an easy way to get nutrition, I used to make my husband a big glass of juice every day: a whole head of broccoli,a large orange and a carrot.  I also made smoothies with full fat everything (despite being diabetic the calories were more important) ice cream, milk, cream and fruit.  All of these slip down relatively well if eating is difficult. The prescription fortified drinks (Ensure at the time) are good too and worth a try.  If your arthritis allows try to do a bit of exercise too, it will help when treatment starts.

11 years later he’s still going strong!

All positive thoughts coming your way.

    Thank you Brent.
At least I'll be getting some fun eating all the things I've denied myself before.
    Crisps & biscuits! Wahey!
I have 2 venison steaks in the freezer and I'm going to try cooking them then chopping them up in my Nutribullet with spinach & mashed celeriac.

    Thank you Jayceeh.
Juice is great. I've been diluting it with fizzy water which help everything go down.
