I am new to this but I really needed to seek some support outside of the family circle as I do not want to admit how frightened I am.
My wonderful grandad was diagnosed this time last year with oesophageal cancer. He has since completed his chemotherapy and they told him that the tumour hadn’t exactly shrunk but it had ‘flattened’; almost as if the bulk of it had been killed, which was at least some good news. During his chemo he was able to eat, he actually piled some weight on, again, all good.
However in the past month he’s lost a stone and he cannot eat for the pain he gets down his throat and under his ribs. What he described as excruciating pain kicked in at 1pm today and he is currently being seen to in a&e (my mam and gran are with him, I am at home with my dad waiting for news). He has gone in for an ECG just now too.
i don’t really have any questions, I really would just like some support / assurance that there is something they can do for him at this point. I’m so scared.

I'm really sorry to hear about your grandad and I'm hoping that since you posted this he's now back home again.
I have no experience with oesophageal cancer so cannot give you the assurances that you want but I didn't want to leave your post with no replies. By replying to you it will bump your post back to the top of the page where it'll hopefully be seen by someone with the right experience to help you.
You could also post your question in ask a nurse and one of the specialist cancer nurses will aim to reply within 2 working days.
