Hi
My very fit and otherwise healthy 49 year old husband was diagnosed on New Year’s Eve 2018 and following scans/tests staging was T3 N2 M0. Started 4 rounds of Flot in Feb followed by a CT scan prior to surgery. Results of the scan were no significant shrinkage of the tumour following chemo with no growth or spread but the surgeons were still prepared to operate. We were upset at this news especially how my husband had gone from some difficulty eating to no problems so we knew the chemo must have done something.
Had surgery on 7 May and is now at home recovering well and remarkably eating anything he wants just smaller portions and more often. Prior to discharge from hospital we received the results from the histology report following the surgery and the staging had been reduced to T1 N0 M0 which was fantastic news. 30 lymph nodes were removed.
I have been reading this group since diagnosis and thought I would post our story in case it helps others.
We are part way through this journey and more Flot likely to come but feeling more positive about the future.
Wonderful!
The recovery from the surgery can be slow and tough for some, but I hope your husband’s journey continues to delight.
I joined a movement class to minimise any problems with scar tissue. I have continued with Pilates, yoga and other classes ever since. I am now as flexible and fit as I was 30 or even 40 years ago.
Positivity is the key to continued progress. Do all those things you have wanted to do together. Learn to dance, Go on that cruise. Discover Capri. Now you can plan and look forward to a happy future together. I am very pleased for you both.
Counting the days, making every day count.

Hi
its great to hear your husband is doing so well after surgery. My 62 year old husband was diagnosed in January, has had 4 rounds of FLOT chemotherapy which he tolerated reasonably well and was able to eat anything he liked the day after the first round! He has done everything he's been told to do giving up alcohol and getting fit. He's been amazing and is due for surgery on 19th June. We are trying to feel positive although daunted by the thought of what's to come. I look forward to reading more on your journey and hope for a positive outcome for them both.
