My Dad went to the hospital Friday we were with him when he was told he has cancer of the gullett and that there is something on his liver but they are unsure what this is.  They are sending him for a PET scan just waiting for a call for this they will put in a fluid to highlight if this is cancerous.  If this is cancerous they will do nothing as the operation for his gullett is major surgery and by the time he recovers from that the liver one will probably have spread.  If its just cancer in the gullet they say it will require radical treatment chemo then 9 hour operation and more chemo about a year to recover.  Just trying to find out other peoples experiences of this and any advise to support my Dad and my sister he has lots of family brothers and sisters to support as well.  I've broke my heart all weekend.

    Hi

My Dad was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer 4 months ago. He originally went to the doctor with trouble getting out of breath. They found tumours on his lungs but said it wasn’t the primary cancer. More tests revealed it was his oesophagus where the primary cancer was.

His cancer is terminal as it’s advanced and gone to his lungs. He was having chemo to prolong his life a bit but fell last week and broke his hip so now the chemo has been stopped

I don’t have any advice, we all deal with things differently. It’s heartbreaking to see your parents go through this isn’t it. We are giving my Dad lots of support and weirdly his diagnosis has brought us closer.

I have found lots of strength from this community and I think you will too

    Thinking of you
