Hi all
So in June 2026 they found a 15mm polyp which looked very like a benign adenoma, however the biopsy showed grade 2 cancer.
The rest of the summer was tests and scans and scares about cancer in other areas which then turned out to be inflammatory markers and they came to the conclusion that it was a really, really early cancer with no spread. So they took me off the two weeks pathway
So the plan was to do an EMR and hopefully that would be that, followed by some abalation of precancerous areas and then regular surveillance. Following quite a long and stressful wait through September and October, today l went for the endoscopy
(November 2026) I woke up from the sedation and was told they couldn't do now as there's now a malignant looking tumour/mass in lower third of oesophagus. the lesion was not obstructing the lumen of the stomach and was not bleeding.
The comments on the form - polypoid lesion extending from distal oesophagus through GOJ with a 1-2cm intra gastric component. may be suitable for esd but options remain staging emr or esophagectomy. 6 new biopsies taken.
So, it sounds to me like it's grown and visibly changed in appearance and l'm completely back to square one with imagining all sorts of scenarios. The Dr said they are still confident of going for a cure but as it's changed so quickly l'm fearing the worst
Thanks for listening, just needed to get that out as l'm trying to downplay it to my family

So sorry to hear that Ju, the waiting, scanxiety, is all tough, you’re in the right place for support, letting go, and experience of this bstrd type of cancer. we’ve all been through various stages, so if there is anything that you need to ask, there are plenty of us that have started that journey, had the op, chemo, immunotherapy, radiotherapy, and come out the other side. I found a lot of love, support and advice from this new family you have joined, when i was diagnosed, treated, especially when my hubby couldnt deal with most of it, breast cancer seemed so gentle compared to this cancer type.
Try not to deal with it all on your own x
Jules
