Lansoprazole dispersible unavailable - any alternative to capsules?

Hi everyone, looking for some advice or guidance.

I had an esophagectomy 8 years ago and take dispersible Lansoprazole (30mg, twice daily) which works perfectly for my acid reflux.

Due to a supply issue, my doctor recommended capsules instead. However, because I have slow gastric emptying, capsules don't dissolve fast enough and I have previously brought them back up whole.

Does anyone know of alternative acid medications that dissolve on the tongue or mix into water?"

Hi Clive. Please check this out with your GP or pharmacist as it is absolutely against general advice for capsules. According to the NHS site I have just looked at then it is allowable to break open lansoprazole and take it with either water or food. Hope this helps.

I am on a feeding tube with no swallow. I take Lansoprazole Orimulsion tablets. These dissolve under the tongue and are absorbed by the oral mucosa (inside of mouth). I am an engineer, not a doctor but might be worth raising with your doc? Take care out there.
