Hi everyone
hope we are all doing ok or at least as best as we can on this journey.
got a call from my consultant on Friday saying they want me to go and have a consultation and treatment at Nottingham city.
after a Ivor Lewis procedure in January of last year, which I’m still recovering from- though back at work full time. They are suggesting I go for Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) for Barrettes oesophagus. Despite my last scan and endoscopy being no sign of any recurrence of the big C, basically after years of acid reflux my oesophagus is basically a ticking time bomb.
just asking if anyone else has been there and had this procedure.
sending you all the positivity we need
Sarah xx
Hi Sarah good to hear from you !! What a pain I can’t understand that if the endoscopy was clear ! Sending love a hugs we’re never out of the woods are we? Xxx
Thank you it just keeps on giving for sure - you think you’re on the road to some sort of normality but oh no let’s throw this your way xx
Hi
I’m not sure even, but will see what the consultants say in Nottingham. Hoping it’s just another precautionary treatment to stop it coming back. Basically I think my remaining oesophagus is riddled with Barrett’s so just got to do whatever I can to keep my feet on this ground xx
Absolutely Rosiee
i still struggle to get my head round the fact I had acid reflux from the age of 10 and was just given ppi till at the age of 54 before it was actually taken seriously and by then it was too late - apparently I’ve had barrettes for years
will just do anything to keep the big c at bay xx
I was aware I had Barrett’s in 2020 had follow up endoscopy in May 2024 given the all clear see you in three years !! July 2024 food started getting stuck diagnosed with cancer Oct 2024 can’t believe how quickly it changed ! Hadn’t really had much acid reflux for several years prior to diagnosis!
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
