Hi all

After weeks in hospital, multiple proceduers and biopsies and a pet scan. Dr’s have seen some early evidence of early squamous cells - therefore they are wanting you to treat him for this with chemo and possible radiotherapy.

we finically met an oncologist yesterday- she explained that dads mass was incurable (it’s 14cm). But hopefully some chemo/radio may help manage symptoms.

as a family we find it difficult to understand how drs are saying early squamous cells and also incurable?!

Dad is considering chemo, but his mental health is not in a good place.

can anyone relate? Share similar situation? Help explain the early yet incurable diagnosis??

thanks so much

it is of course better to ask you father’s consultant why his disease is deemed incurable. Speculation here may add to your confusion.

In my own case, I was deemed suitable for radical radio chemotherapy of early disease, and one of the determinants was the size of the tumour.  It must fit in the radiotherapy field.

So perhaps ask your Consultant why your father is deemed unsuitable for radical radio chemotherapy.

Kind wishes and I hope you find the answered you are looking for x
