Hi my brother has his last session of radiotherapy for Oesophageal cancer on Friday. 25 sessions in total. His oncologist said the next few weeks after treatment finishes can be hard. I’m just wondering what other peoples experience is with the weeks after finishing treatment.
Hi. I was very bad after session 24 and needed some help from the hospital-admitted overnight but out in 24 hours. After another 2 weeks I was completely free of soreness and in fact went on holiday. Everybody reacts differently so don't take this as the norm. - just my own journey.
Hello Dollface
I had similar 35 sessions and weekly chemo, it was the last 2 RT sessions that my decline happened I had sailed through the treatment and was working through it bu the 33rd I was very down and lacking energy etc, after the last I got up the next morning and was flat out on the couch for 2 weeks, all I can say that he will feel pretty awful, but please tell him to keep faith I'm now 3 years out and going well still the odd problems as RT effects last for ages and is continuing to work well after, I had anothe issue with the RT as I'm a neck breather the RT effected my stoma so that was additional problems, Hope it turns out well for him and you know where we all are for support,
Tony
