Starting off with these last few weeks have been frustrating.
My mum finished chemo 23rd Jan and was due for ct scan last Thurs. So she went the monday prior to get updated ep bloods . While doing obs , her Oxygen levels were low so they sent her to a and e . Sat on hard chair in a and e as no hospital beds .
My mum was already suffering with back pain , so hard chairs in a and e didn't help.
A and e a disaster, they gave my mum 5 medications which were meant for someone else !! Along with other mistakes.
They did ct scan but said just of lungs so we were to go back thurs for her full ct scan.
Went for scan on the thurs to be told there was no appointment and actually they did do a full ct scan whilst she was in a and e .. so a wasted journey.
Tues passes I rang appointments number as we didn't hear anything and thought we would have gotten results .
Was told no appointment on system for her this week, then this morning my mum was really sore with back pain so I rang helpline , to find out that she should have been seen this week and now to cover her over weekend prescribing her oramorph.
Has anyone on here used oramorph or on oramorph? Does it help ?
Worried now as if given morphine is that it ?
Just frustrating as though frightened of ct scan results, we just want to know what we are dealing with .
Sorry for long rant but needed it
I have googled and ut us safe to take paracetamol with Oromorph
Im sorry your mom was treated so dispicably. Situations like this shows how broken our NHS actually is.
Please do not be concerned about oramorph. It's a great pain relief when other medications do not work.
My dad takes 5ml of oramorph, 6 times a day. Plus his slow release zomorph, paracetamol and pregabalin.
Hope everything gets better for you both.

Thanks for your reply. I got the oramorph last night for my mum . It says on bottle for her 2.5mls 4 times a day. Maybe then they might up her dose if she doesn't feel its helping . She feels fine in everyway apart from sharp pain in her lower back.
Hope your dad is doing well
It was awful, the nurses were lovely , doctors lovely but too many patients, not enough staff , and no where to put anyone , my mum was just sat on a hard chair amongst everyone else, and sat there from 2pm on the Monday til 7pm on the tues . She really should have been admitted but no beds . Was sent home and pretty much has been forgotten about. I'm constantly ringing, as if I don't, she would have been just left at home suffering. Hopefully she will finally get an appointment with her consultant and proper plans and care will be made for her .
Oramorph wise. She's been prescribed 2.5mls 4 times a day . Doesn't sound like a lot but maybe it is ?
Oh dear your poor mom that’s a long time!! Thank goodness she’s got you ! Sending hugs Tricia x
You've already received many helpful replies but, on the following question:

I was also surprised when my wife was prescribed Oramorph very early on. As you imply here, I had previously thought that morphine would only be used in the very final stages of disease.
But, not so. Oramorph proved to be a very helpful drug, and, specifically, was effective in dealing with the nasty and violent coughing fits which plagued my wife during the course of her illness. So don't be afraid of using the drug.
The standard starting dose is 2.5ml I think - but the frequency with which that dose can be administered can vary. Just follow whatever the prescription you have says.
My wife also took Paracetamol at the same time. As mentioned above, the combination of Oramorph and Paracetamol is perfectly safe - and Paracetamol is also a surprisingly useful drug.
Best wishes.
