Hello everyone
How is everyone doing? thank you for all of your help lately which I have passed on to my friend.
He did the first post op chemo which was very tough but he got through it, Had bloods and told he cant have second post op chemo this week because of low neuts. Has anyone had this? any tips on how to raise them? and will this likely affect the effectiveness? they are going to try again next week.
Thank you in advance :)
Yes I had the same and believe it’s quite common they give you injections for 5 days after chemo to avoid this in future Tricia x
Thank you so much Tricia! this hasn't been mentioned to him. That is why this forum is so vital. I learn more on here to pass on to him!
No they didn’t mention it to me either just gave them to me after the chemo for the last 3 cycles after my first one was delayed a week !
Hi yes it’s very common. My husband had chemo delayed for a week and has now to inject himself for 4 days after chemo to get the white blood cell count up again. The jabs stimulate the bone marrow to produce them as otherwise you are so vulnerable to infection. Despite this , his are still very slightly low this week so more bloods today and if not improved then the chemo strength might be reduced.
