Today we got the diagnosis we were all dreading. My dearest Dad has got stage 4B OC, mets in liver, lymph nodes and blood. No one is telling us/giving us an idea of timeframe yet. What is your experience with this? Chemo and biologic/ immunosuppressant may be offered depending on molecular profile of tumour which we are waiting to hear......devastating news as we lost our mum to primary liver cancer at age 63

  • I'm sorry to read this. My husband has T4 N3M1 OC, mets in liver, lymph nodes and peritoneum. He started chemo quite quickly, about 3 weeks after prognosis. It was delayed a week while waiting for the results of screening for a trial drug. He was positive for what they were looking for and this gave him access to immunotherapy and the trial, albeit the latter could be a placebo. The trial he is in is Fortitude, from memory. If you want more details I can check the paperwork tomorrow. There are others on the forum in different trials. With treatment, the average prognosis he was given just for chemo is 18-24 months. Although, asked what's the worst case scenario, the oncologist replied. "A week or two," explaining about the risk of infection and sepsis. Glad to say we're 8 weeks in, now.

My husband is 63, was a couple of stone overweight, on meds for high bp and cholesterol but pretty fit and active. The early stage of this journey, before knowing the options was the worst. However, we have come to terms with the knowledge that it will get bad again, just don't know when.
