Hello,

does anyone else take lansoprazole and (chemo tablet) capecitabine. Our oncologist knows that mum was taking lansoprazole and she usually has the two an hour apart.
today she took he lansoprazole a bit late so she had he chemo tablet a bit later too. Just wondering if anyone else takes both and the amount of time they were told to leave between the two.

  • I was on capecitabine tablets (and Cisplatin chemo by IV & radiotherapy) and Lansoprazole in 2021. I had a stomach feeding tube as my tumour blocked my oesophagus completely. I've looked back through my paperwork - I don't remember being told to leave a specific time gap between those two medications - according to my notebook  I syringed dissolvable Lansoprazole into my stomach tube, waited 30 mins to 'eat' as per the instructions on the packet, syringed a Fortisip, waited 10 mins for that to settle, then syringed the dissolved capecitabine tablets. So it was generally about 50 mins after the Lansoprazole.

    I hope that helps.

  • Thank you so much! Your response calmed my nerves that day. I completely forgot to reply so wanted to thank you now. We saw our oncologist yesterday and he said it’s fine to take as well.i hope you Heartre well & enjoying life to the fullest Heart️

  • Hi Gabby

I'm on the Capecitabine but with Omezprezole. My instructions are 2 Capecitabine in morning and another 2, twelve hours later. Mine are 500 mg each so 1000mg in total. Everybody is different so double check with your cancer team

If I am over half hour late taking a dose it says don't take it and wait for next dose

    Hope that helps

    Best wishes
