Hi All,
After an endoscopy discovered a Tumor on the junction of my esophagus and stomach, which i only had due to excessive burping, no acid reflux a resulting CT scan found i also had a mass on my Liver. Saw my Oncologist yesterday and he is a bit confused as the cancer i have - Small Cell, is usually found in the lungs and i have no markers for actually having cancer at all, i can eat and drink fine, no blood in my stools, I appear fit and healthy no dramatic loss weight so im a bit of a conundrum. Now i dont know if that's a good or bad thing as Life expectancy he gave me is based un lung cancer which he classed as a year pushing to 18 months.
I am going away for a break next week then will be starting my Chemo very soon after with Carboplatin and Etoposide combination.
All the Best xx
HI Tigerstog,
Welcome to the forum, a difficult place to join, but a new world of information and support available, so hopefully you will gain some insight here.
I am sorry that you have had this recent diagnosis, it is a terrible shock to the system, and can cause a whole wealth of emotions. I do know that another member has Small Cell OC, but I am not sure how active they are at the moment. I hope that they will be able to post for you and share some of their story.
Prognosis is a strange thing, some people want to know and others don't, My husband didn't (he is the one with the OC) and I did, so I was able to ask the oncologist early on... his prognosis was thankfully very wrong, being given 1 year with treatment... back in May 2020.
I hope you can find a way to remain positive and that the treatment you receive is successful, but first, I hope that you are able to take a real break next week before that treatment begins.
Macmillan have a team on hand to assist with any thoughts or concerns, just call the number in my signature, or reach out again here, and we will try to answer you as best as possible.
I wish you the very best
