New to this forum, so hello.

Just want to vent/rant!
Had my Oesophagectomy resection booked in for tomorrow 20th Dec for the last 6 weeks, only to have received a call from the hospital to say that it’s been postponed because of the junior Drs strike, which apparently also starts tomorrow. It has been rescheduled for 29th December instead.
I know it’s not the end of the world in the grand scheme of things, but I had battled the nerves and anxiety to mentally prepare myself for tomorrow only to have to start that process again. Frustrated! Grrrrr!

  • Hi Gareth

I am not a candidate for surgery but I can well imagine how you are feeling, you must be so disappointed and frustrated and even angry that you need to go through all the nerves and anxiety all over again.  These things are otwith your control. Sometimes I don't think people don't realise what they put on your shoulders by doing something like this. However, Christmas is just around the corner and hopefully lots of distractions to keep you from thinking about to to much because of all the things going on. Try and take just one day at a time, and if that is to much, break it down to a morning or an afternoon or an evening. I think for me the distractions of Christmas helps me stop thinking about it too much.  I wish you well over the festive period and try and take each day as it comes and the 29th won't be long in coming round. Allow yourself to enjoy the festive period, please come back if you are still struggling, I am not the best to give you advice but I hope i might have given you a tiny bit of good advice.

  • I know - the wait must play havoc with your anxiety. Stay strong and try to stay positive for the 29th December - hope all goes well.
