I’m due to start FLOT next Tuesday but have been told that, as one of my blood tests showed that I have a DPD deficiency, I have to receive a reduced dose of one of the chemicals. Has anybody else been in this situation and does this diminish the efficacy of the treatment in any way?
Hi Cool Blue not sure if it's the same but my last round was reduced by 20% as I was getting bad pins and needles essentially nerve damage. They said it would not make any difference to treating the cancer. Don't know what DPD is but I know they can adjust treatment quite a lot to make it as comfortable for the patient as possible.
Talk to them when you go in and I'm sure they will explain it all. Good luck with it all. I have had 4 rounds and now op is scheduled for December 29th which I'm anxious about as it's 6 to 8hrs . If all goes well will have 4 more rounds of FLOT afterwards
Best wishes
Dean
