I have been home 3 days and am finding eating a challenge.
Doing everything that I have been told, but still getting diarrhoea. Is this normal early on?
Will it get better??
Hi
Yes it is very normal, it will take some time until you feel like eating and building up from a very soft diet. The diarrhoea seems to be more individual in how long it last with much of it linked to dumping, I am a year post op and still suffering with it daily. I was told it takes about a year to get used to the new way of eating and I think that is about right, once you feel like eating it’s getting used to what you can eat, drinking in between meals and eating more frequent small meals. You will get there it just takes time.
Hope your recovery goes well
Hi Podgy2,
I have had trouble eating all the way through. First round of chemo affected my taste, it became very metallic. Between that and surgery I got a little better. After surgery eating very little and taste not great. Now back in chemo again and struggling again. Feeling sick a lot of the time with stomach cramps. Just fed up with it all. Can't wait for the new year.
Best regards
Geo.
