Hi, from seeing an out of hours GP on the 9th September, I have had an endoscopy, CT scan, PET scan and Tuesday just gone a staging laparoscopy. The paperwork states T3N2 neuroendocrine carcinoma of GOJ.
I have an appointment with the oncologist on the 12th Oct and start treatment on the 23rd. I’ve been given 6 appointments and the treatment states Carbo/Etoposide, the plan is to operate.

I feel it has been a quick journey so far, does anyone have any knowledge/experience of the treatment I am going to have. I have looked on here so have the basics.

  • Hello Jenjen6

Welcome to the forum and thank you for reaching out here, You definitely have experienced a quick treatment program, which we can only hope it a good thing.

I notice you state that you have looked on here so you know the basics,  but I am not sure if the here is the OC forum or the whole site, so just in case I will leave the link for the treatment that you will be given  = Carboplatin and etoposide | Macmillan Cancer Support

There are many different treatments and just by what you have written, I am unsure whether the Etoposide will be delivered as an infusion or as a tablet form, but generally most treatments are for 6 weeks to begin with, and depending on how you react and how well the treatment works will determine future treatments.  Your MDT will monitor you all the way and keep you updated on how things are going.

As much as this is a major roller coaster for you, you are in the best of hands, and I wish you every success with your treatment.

If you need to speak to anyone from the Macmillan Team, please don't hesitate to call them on the number in my signature and if we can assist you with any of your questions, please let us know.
