Hi, my partner was diagnosed June 22. Oeshagus cancer, distal oeshagus, siwert1, with lymphadepoy, poorly differentiated. Tiny amount in Distant lymph node (paraoesphagul LN)No other Mets. This ruled out an operation. T3N2M1. HE2 neg. PdL positive.
He was put on CAPOX chemo and keytrda After 4 rounds, the scan revealed partial response after 7, scan said cancer stable. So then 6wkly maintenance of immunotherapy. We got to round 3 of this and he developed colitis and in hospital on IV 3 nights, this was end of April. Then steroids in till mid July. We were told he could restart or they planned to. (He was within 16weeks). Last scan Mid July still stable. Bloods all good last week. Now we are told there is no plan to restart him. The cancer nurse couldn't explain why, she said to ask at the September appointment. We asked if the Cancer became active could it be treated and she couldn't answer that either. Has anyone else been in this situation?
Hi my husband has renal cell Papilliary cancer - he too had immunotherapy and managed 4 cycles of it before he developed grade 4 colitis and ended up in hospital on steroids for a few months. His oncologist will not risk immunotherapy again and he had about 3 months of no treatment in which the tumor had grown. The next stage was radiotherapy in which he’s had 13/15 which has wiped him out. Next due to see oncologist on 21 Aug to decide if he’s ready for anticancer drugs. Sending you best wishes x
