Hi everyone, hope you are all keeping ok. My husband had a stent put in Thursday, he is currently on a drip as he has a lot of acid reflux, not eating / drinking and is extremely tired. He has gone downhill rapidly. He is supposed to start chemo next week. He is having a barium swallow test Monday. Is anyone willing to share their experience of a stent with me please. Thank you
My dad had 4 stents fitted last Monday. 4!! He said the process wasn’t great, but he can now eat and drink soft food and liquids again. It’s a personal choice. But dad enjoyed the middles of jacket potatoes and butter again today after being able to eat or drink nothing. It’s not a cure. It’s an aid to keep someone going a bit longer, in our case. All the best.
Thank you soo much. It’s good (in a way ) that more can be added. He doesn’t like the metallic taste in his mouth x
My dad also has an awful taste in his mouth. Not sure if he’d call it metallic but it makes him feel bad. (Porridge and fruit drinks and washing mouth out with Coca Cola helps.) However, he is pleased to eat some things he thought he’d never eat again. (He also went through a period of wretching and sort of being sick and completely unable to eat or drink before having the stent fitted.) Big hugs to both of you. This is a horrid thing to have. It is taking all our energy to support dad getting through this, so totally understand how you feel.
