Time spent on pre op

Hi

My husband is having his pre op in Liverpool hospital on Thursday. Can anyone tell me roughly how long this takes. We have to travel from North Wales and have to leave our dog, so just wondering if we need to leave her with a dog sitter or not.

Also how long was it after the pre op that the operation took place.

Many thanks for any help you can give me,

  • Good Morning Zulu

I think that there is a lot of variation between hospitals. I saw my consultant for the first time on a Friday lunchtime, was sent straight afterwards for all the preop assessments and they took several hours. I had to see several different people and sometimes it was the waiting around as I went from dept to dept. My surgery was on the Monday morning. I would think for peace of mind arrange a sitter for your dog as its one less thing to be worrying about. I was lucky to have family next door who were able to look after my pets at short notice.

I hope that your husbands surgery goes well and in the mean time if there is anything that you need support with, please do ask

    Jane

  • Thank you for your swift reply. Yes think I will do that, no doubt my husband will be on edge that day and as you say, one less thing to worry about.

  • I found that I could not relax unless I knew my pets were sorted. They are part of the family.

I hope that Thursday goes as well as it can for both of you

  • Hi

i agree with Jane2511 best to get one.  Mine was several hours as I saw a few different people in the team, we had to travel to London on the train so it took all day in the end.

I hope all goes well and your husband is soon recovering.
