Hi just wondering anybody who has had Esophagectomy surgery. How long did your actual operation take? Thank you
I had an oesophagectomy in October, the operation was about 7 hrs then spent 3 days on critical care before being transferred to a ward then home after 13 days ,at no point was I in much pain and was up and walking after 2days , these operations seem daunting beforehand but still cannot believe how quick my recovery has been
That’s amazing. Thank you for your reply and I’m so pleased to hear your recovery has been better than you imagined. It’s my Dad that is having the operation, this week and we are all terrified so it’s good to hear that it’s potentially not as bad as it seems.
Hope you continue to recover well ️
HI my partner had it in May time, he was in around 8 hours I think, then 3 days ICU and then up to the ward, he was on his feet after 2 day in the ward very slowly but was home in 10 days. Its been 6 months now and hes back at the gym most days he still gets tired and has some small issues but doing well. My partner is 47, in his ward was 2 older men that just had surgery a few days before, they both never stopped eating and talking lol we were shocked but once the op was over and the few days in ICU it got a lot better, those 3/4 days were the worst for us worrying but stay strong and fingers crossed your dad gets over it well also.
