Hi
My partner is 46 he had chemo then an esophagectomy and another 8 rounds of chemo, last one on 01.09.22, he is waiting on a follow up appointment but in the meantime he is sick everytime he eats, vomiting and regurgitating badly. He has a lot of pains down the right side and maybe lungs (deep breaths hurt) just wondering if anyone has had this (surgery was in May) im trying to get him to go to hospital but his appointment is in 6 days so he wont go.
I cant find much on the internet about what happens after all the treatment or how he should be recovering, just wondering if anyone has any advice.
Thanks
Sam
Hi SamanthaN
Really sorry to hear your partner is suffering at the moment. Please contact your Upper Gi Nurse at your hospital for advice they’re the people with the knowledge and expertise. If he’s being sick every time he eats, please don’t wait for the hospital appointment in 6 days.
Regards
Timbo
Hi,
Just to echo what TMR wrote: my advice would be to phone your specialist GI nurse for advice straight away. And, certainly, don't think you need to wait for the next scheduled hospital appointment.
My wife had similar surgery to your husband, and the GI nurses (as well as all of the medical staff) have been brilliant in reacting to any problems which have occurred since then.
Good luck, and best wishes.
