So a few days before our daughter’s wedding I started to feel unwell again and the persistent cough came back. I was taken into hospital and another stent was fitted. The staff at the hospital were beyond amazing-determined to get me to the wedding! I was discharged the day before the big event and managed to get there which was a great relief! It was a magical day.
Since then I have started radiotherapy but I am finding it hard. I feel tired all of the time and I am still coughing. The doctor assured me that the cough would settle but it hasn’t so far. I have another 6 sessions of radiotherapy to go but I understand I might feel little improvement for a couple of weeks. If anyone has similar experiences then it would be helpful to hear as the rollercoaster of he last few weeks has left me feeling a bit low.
Hi Nan
Unfortunately all the treatments affect us all differently so it’s hard to say what and when any side effects will happen, my own experience was the last 2 sessions of 35 and the day it finished I was flat out for 2 weeks. Mine though was more to do with the damage to my stoma and airway which was very sore and I went down with a chest infection so as you see we all have afters but if it works it’s well worth it
Take care
Tony

Thanks Tony. I think I am just surprised with how tired I feel but I have been recovering from a chest infection too. I have two stents in now which the dr says is actually protecting me from too much soreness. I am usually pretty active but this has wiped me out! Take care of yourself.
Was wondering how you were doing, Nan. Good to hear you made it to your daughter's wedding. Sorry for the recent problems. It's such a roller-coaster, this disease. I am only caring for my husband and I am exhausted! Keep going though, Nan and wrestle any setbacks to the ground!! You can do it!!

Thanks Martha. I really needed your positivity today . I have 4 more sessions of radiotherapy to go and then I can set about healing again. I don’t know where your husband is up to in his treatment but I hope that he is coping and I send you both all the best with everything. None of this is easy!
