Swallowing problems

I was diagnosed last year and have had chemo and radiotherapy followed by surgery. At this stage they discovered there had been some spread. Despite this I am making a very good recovery and getting back my original strength and stamina. I do have problems with swallowing though. Firstly a feeling of constriction when I swallow and then on occasion coughing and wheezing a few minutes after eating followed by bringing up large quantities of thick saliva. I wonder if anyone else has these problems and any suggestions to try and ease them.

Have you spoke about getting stretched or stent? If you don’t me asking where was the surgery? Xx

I haven't as yet, however I am booked in for a swallow test later this March. Hopefully this finds the problem and a solution.

Sorry I realise I didn't answer your other question. I had Ivor Lewis oesphagectomy. The whole oesphagus was removed and my stomach pulled up and joined at the throat. I've actually looked at a couple of previous posts about the swallowing issue and it was suggested that using antihistamine might help. I'm going to give this a try.
