Hi all,
Has anyone had post op problems with urinary infections after an Ivor Lewis op? My husband had his operation 3.5 months ago and is recovering really well but has had 3 urinary infections - not something he has had problems with in the past. He mentioned it at his 3 month check up but the surgeon didn't seem concerned. He's not very happy to be continually taking antibiotics. He's doing all the usual tricks, lots of fluids, cranberry juice. It's just beginning to worry us that it could be something else. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Hi Halfpenny,
I am sorry your husband is experiencing this problem, though pleased to hear that he is recovering well otherwise from his Ivor Lewis op.
I don't have any answers for you, but wanted to make sure your post stays near the top so that some others may come along and give you their advice.
I did watch a doctor documentary a couple of months ago which claimed cranberry juice combined with a handful of dried cranberries and a probiotic yoghurt daily helps with this condition...but this is not guaranteed ..but thought I would share that.
I am unsure if this is an Ask A Nurse Question, but it is worth a try, as they will possible have a great deal more understanding of this than I.
Good Luck
