Hello Everyone,
My mum has Stage 4 oesophageal cancer - she was diagnosed 4 years ago and despite being told she had 3 months to live 2 years, 7 months ago - she is still fighting! She is not having any active treatment. I wondered if anyone has got any advice regarding the awful cough she has. She is unable to swallow anything and is PEG fed. Any ideas on how we can relieve it during the evening as she is not sleeping due to constant coughing.
Thanks all x
Hi and welcome to the online cancer
I'm sorry to read that your mum can't sleep due to her constant coughing. Although I don't any suggestions I noticed that your post had not had any replies.
Has your mum spoken to her CNS about her cough? If not this might be a good starting point. Alternatively you could post your question in the ask a nurse section of the community and one of the specialist nurses will aim to reply within 2 working days.
When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your mum's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
I do hope her cough can be controlled soon.
