Hi

my father is currently undergoing monthly chemo to manage  a grade 4 diagnosis

he is currently coping well, apart from the amount of swelling he is getting in his feet, he’s struggling to walk and is now in pain sitting, he keeps them elevated where he can I’m just wondering if anyone has any tips for anything that has helped them with these side effects ?

Currently the quality of the life he has left is getting worse as he’s ending up just sat in his chair more and more

any suggestions welcome

My husband was diagnosed in early 2018 and ceased treatment in November as the chemo wasn’t having any effect on the size and spread  of the tumour. He is currently on 9mg of dexamethasone and has suffered many of the usual side effects.

To help with the oedema in his feet  he is having weekly massages from one of the therapists at our local hospice and she has organised some compression socks to see if that helps him. In between visits I am also massaging his feet but a little more gently.

    Hi

so has the swelling continued despite the stopping treatment ? At the moment I think my dad is hoping that when he finishes the batch of chemo the swelling will go away,

I had thought about massage but wasn’t sure if it would actually make a difference

    thanks for sharing your experiences

In our case the swelling is being put down to a high dose of steroids, which started after the chemo stopped. They had to go up again recently after some problems.

Im sorry, there’s so little positive news with this disease.

My Mums feet, neck , shoulders , stomach are all dreadfully swollen, we have been told it’s down to the steroids , we are currently trying to reduce them, she’s down to 4mg at present.

    her treatment finished in November.

sadly she’s also lost her memory (we’ve been told this is due to the area where the tumour was(is) and the after effects of the treatment. Quality of life is deteriorating rapidly - feel so so helpless and sad for her
