New here. Not even sure exactly how this works. My husband was diagnosed with Glioblastoma stage 4 in early June. Surgery debulked (?) the tumour and the surgeons were very happy. He has just this week started 6 weeks of chemotherapy alongside radiotherapy to be followed by six months of chemo five days a month. We understand this is all relatively standard. We know the tumour is treatable but incurable but have no idea what the prognosis is. Of course everyone is different and responds to treatment in different ways. One thing that we can’t yet seem to do and don’t actually know how to do is to ask the question of what the likely timescale is. We can barely bear to think about it ourselves never mind address it formally. Who is best to ask. The oncologist or the specialist oncology nurse. I think we are also scared to hear the answer.

  • Hope you’re okay I been to Maggie’s brain tumour support group and meet other people with brain tumours. I was told 14 months but who knows I ain’t giving up yet I think going to fight this enjoy life. Nobody knows. I just finished radiotherapy two weeks ago and started my trail drug again and will go on to tamazole chemo. Attended an online event today by brain trust for high end brain tumour via event bright and again good to speak to others people similar position you can just listen as well

  • Hi Daisy, glad you're finding groups that can help.  I just wanted to mention that for me and my wife the Brain Tumour Support groups really helped. They are mostly online but they also organised some in-person events in my area.

  • My husband is 17mths post diagnosis,15mths post operation, original estimation was 14-18mnths - he currently works full time, exercises 3times a week,he pretty much does all that he has ever done but obviously he can't drive.

Personality wise he's different but he had a frontal lobe tumor and he's personality/doing weird things was a diagnosising factor.Care wise I support with memory and organisation that sort of thing but physically he's okay at the moment having had no real side effects from the radiotherapy or chemo.

  • So encouraging to hear of others doing so well! Although I am only 4 months post diagnosis , no problems at all yet!!
