  • I would say no, it's incredibly difficult to function alone after a liver resection, things like bathing, toilet, cooking will be almost impossible Riccardo after surgery.  I would speak to your GP or hospital team about getting a care package in place possibly for you or at the very least let them know you live alone and see if they can offer help.

  • Thank you Sniffy for replying

  • Hi Sniffy, i read on your blog you have a ct scan every 3 months. Is that the only test you have as follow-up to check for recurrence?

  • Hi Riccardo I have a CT scan every 3 months but also I have my blood taken to check my CA19 levels which are my cancer marker, as long as that remains stable and my CT scan is clear that's the only tests I have.

  • Oh and you can call me Colette Relaxed

  • Thanks for the quick reply Colette. I will have surgery to remove my gallbladder due to polyps that have grown on March 21 and I am very anxious if they find cancer. I am trying to avoid stressing myself, but it's difficult. Your story and Azd1's story give me hope.

  • I'm not sure of your full story but it's incredibly rare to get Gallbladder cancer, however it does happen so I hope you have a positive outcome and everything works out just fine and you don't have cancer.

Just take each day as it comes, don't try and think too far ahead of yourself, tomorrow is Thursday so think about what the day involves, then tomorrow evening think about Friday, and what that day involves....breaking down anything into manageable chunks is less overwhelming and all consuming x

  • Hi Colette, thanks for your advice. My full story is an ultrasound revealed several polyps measuring up to 4mm in June 2022, and another ultrasound revealed several polyps measuring up to 7mm in January 2023. My surgeon said: "When polyps grow, it's worrisome so we remove the gallbladder."

  • Hi Colette,

Why do you describe yourself as incurable if you are still alive and with us?

  • I am incurable because when I was first diagnosed with Gallbladder cancer I was stage 3, however the gallbladder cancer metastised (came back) to different places in my body even after the liver resection surgery and chemotherapy.  It has grown back on 3 more occasions,  in my bowel, my abdomen and it also started growing again in July last year and so I've been lucky each time that surgery was successful but once it comes back I was reclassified as Stage 4 metastic.

My doctor's tell me they can't cure me of gallbladder cancer they can only try to keep me under their care and keep monitoring my body with scans and we just keep our fingers crossed I don't get another tumour if that makes more sense to you?
